YEARLY MAINTENANCE FOR TEAK PRODUCTS
The yearly maintenance on Teak can be done in two different ways. If you leave your teak to weather naturally, it will take on a silver patina. You only need to wash down in the spring with a mild soap solution and water. Scrub with a stiff nylon brush to remove any excess dirt.
You can also use Cabot Cleaner/Brightener for heavy soil or to bring the teak back to a natural state.
If you decide to coat or stain your teak, then it will be necessary to coat it periodically (generally 9 months to a year). Please follow the directions below for proper installation. This is a cosmetic finish only.
We recommend the Cabot products and use them ourselves.
Use Cabot Teak Cleaner/Brightener at full strength to clean the surface of the pieces. Keep moist or damp for approx. 15 minutes.
Hose and scrub off cleaner completely. DO NOT LET DRY , or it will become very chalky. After completing the piece let dry for 24 hours.
Sand any rough spots, imperfections etc. with 280-320 grit sandpaper, if required.
Use compressed air to clear away all dust on furniture and crevices.
Apply Cabot Australian Timber Oil, liberally and quickly with sponge brush. DO NOT LET DRY . Back wipe with Terry towel cloth to eliminate all excess. Allow the pieces to dry for 24 hours before sitting on furniture.
